Is NCCU on Common App? The College Application Journey Just Got Easier (and Maybe a Little Less Stressful)

So, you’re thinking about applying to North Carolina Central University (NCCU), and you’re wondering if you can use the Common App. Well, let me break it down for you: YES! NCCU joined the Common App in 2022 and let me tell you, it’s a game changer!

Remember those days of filling out separate applications for every single college? Yeah, those days are officially over (at least for NCCU). The Common App is like that magical portal that lets you apply to hundreds of colleges with just one application. Think of it as a time-saving, stress-reducing superhero for college hopefuls.

Why did NCCU switch to the Common App?

Well, it seems the powers that be at NCCU realized that using a single application platform would make their college dreams a reality for more students. And let me tell you, it worked, BIG TIME. Since joining the Common App, NCCU saw a massive increase in applications. In fact, they saw their largest freshman class in a decade!

So what does this mean for you?

  • Easier Application Process: One application for NCCU and hundreds of other colleges. Less paperwork, less stress, more time for Netflix binging (or studying, if you’re that kind of person).
  • More Visibility: Joining the Common App made NCCU more visible to prospective students. It’s like saying, “Hey, we’re here, we’re awesome, and we’re on the Common App!”
  • More Applicant Diversity: The Common App has been a powerful tool for increasing diversity in college admissions. NCCU saw a huge increase in first-generation college student applications, which is fantastic news for everyone.

But wait, there’s more!

The Common App isn’t just for NCCU. There are a bunch of other Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) on the platform. Just think, you can apply to Spelman College, Howard University, Morehouse College, Tuskegee University, and NCCU all with one application! Talk about hitting the jackpot!

Okay, so maybe you’re thinking, “What about other colleges? Are they on the Common App?”

Well, it’s a mixed bag. Some colleges are on the Common App, some are on the Coalition Application, and some just have their own application system. It’s like trying to navigate a maze of college applications.

Here are some colleges that are NOT on the Common App:

  • The State University of New York (SUNY)
  • The California State University (CSU)
  • Brigham Young University
  • United States Military Academy (West Point)
  • United States Naval Academy
  • United States Air Force Academy

So, what’s the best way to figure out which application to use?

  • Check the college’s website: Most colleges will clearly state whether they accept the Common App, Coalition Application, or their own application.
  • Contact the college’s admissions office: If you’re still confused, don’t be afraid to call or email the admissions office. They’re there to help!

In a nutshell:

NCCU, like many other great colleges, is now on the Common App. This means it’s easier than ever to apply and potentially become part of the NCCU community. So, go ahead and create your Common App profile, explore your options, and start your college application journey with confidence!
