An opportunity has arisen in the Centre for Medical Education within the School of Medicine for a Team Leader (Quality Assurance).  The role will be to lead and manage the team of staff supporting the quality assurance of all programmes and activities across the Centre for Medical Education.  The post holder will be responsible for ensuring the operation of all quality assurance processes internally and externally.  The post holder will work as part of a team responsible for overseeing the administration of all aspects of quality assurance.  The post holder will work closely with Professional Statutory and Regulatory Bodies (PSRBs), University Professional Services and other teams within the Centre including the Senior Management Team and Programme Directors.

The work of the team focuses on the compilation and quality assurance of all PSRB documentation including responses to annual returns and ensuring all information meets the standards required.  The Team will be responsible for the appointment of external examiners for all programmes within the Centre, and auditing of all educational provision throughout Wales including Local Education Providers.  The role encompasses Committee Servicing for the Centre which includes the creation of the annual committee calendar, standard operating procedures for the servicing of committees including producing and collating meeting papers, minute taking, action plans and annual audit of committee activities.  The role includes data processing and review.  Liaison with other teams within the Centre for Medical Education, University and external organisations such as the General Medical Council is an essential part of the role.

Applicants should possess substantial experience of supervising a team.  Specialist knowledge of quality assurance systems and processes within higher education would be advantageous.   The applicant should also be able to demonstrate experience of managing the work of others and the ability to solve expansive problems using initiative and creativity.

Evidence of ability to plan the work of a team, reacting to changes in workload and priority and meeting competing deadlines, and the ability to influence and communicate detailed and complex information effectively and professionally with a wide range of people are key to this role.

This post is part-time (14 hours per week – Wednesday and Thursday 7 hours per day), available from 5 September 2018 and is fixed term until 7 September 2020.
