Lead and sustain a research group/specialism of international excellence in Electronics and Electrical Engineering particularly through vigorously pursuing opportunities to generate income and publish, to actively engage and enhance teaching at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level, and to play a leadership role in developing and executing strategy, management and organisation both internally and externally. To undertake appropriate teaching and administrative tasks associated with the educational programmes delivered through the Glasgow College UESTC: University of Glasgow-University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UoG-UESTC) Joint Education Institute on the UESTC Qingshuihe campus in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, PR China and with the School of Engineering at the Gilmorehill campus in Glasgow.
This post is based at the main campus of the University of Glasgow, but it is a requirement of the post that the appointee will travel regularly to the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC) in Chengdu, PR China. It is expected that the appointee will travel regularly to UESTC around 8-10 times per annum for visits typically of 9 days duration, but longer or more frequent visits may be required to meet operational demands.
Standard Terms & Conditions
Salary will be on the University’s Research and Teaching Grade, level 7/8/9, £34,520 – £38,833/ £42,418 – £49,149/ £50,618 – £56,950 per annum.
New entrants to the University will be required to serve a probationary period of 6 months.
The successful applicant will be eligible to join the Universities’ Superannuation Scheme. Further information regarding the scheme is available from the Superannuation Officer, who is also prepared to advise on questions relating to the transfer of Superannuation benefits.
All research and related activities, including grants, donations, clinical trials, contract research, consultancy and commercialisation are required to be managed through the University’s relevant processes (e.g. contractual and financial), in accordance with the University Court’s policies.
