Job offer available in Scotland Assistant Director (Project Delivery) at University of Strathclyde

The University is in the midst of an ambitious plan to develop the Glasgow City Centre Campus. Since 2010, over £300million has been spent on improving the estate and tackling backlog maintenance and operational issues. The University has refreshed the Estates Strategy and this establishes the direction for the development of the campus over the next ten years and sets the vision for the development programmes within this timescale. To support the delivery of these ambitious plans a new Assistant Director post is being created to manage the portfolio of existing and future Capital Projects within the Capital Investment Plan.

In the next ten years, there will be an additional capital programme of circa £250m and the focus will be on ensuring that this is invested so that the estate assets are operating at optimum efficiency whilst delivering the University’s strategic themes. Identifying and delivering business case outputs will be key as well as securing external funding opportunities.

As a member of the Estates Senior Leadership Team, the Assistant Director (Project Delivery) will work closely with the other Assistant Directors of Estates responsible for Estate Planning, Sustainability & Environmental Management, Estate Operations and Campus Services to ensure that Estates Services supports the achievement of the University’s goals and objectives as set out in the University’s Strategic Plan.

As well as contributing to the development of Estates strategy as part of the Director’s senior management team, the Assistant Director (Project Delivery) will be specifically responsible for developing strategies, planning, implementation and managing the University’s Capital Development programme and integrating this where possible with initiatives from other parts of the directorate,

Suitable candidates must be degree qualified in a construction related discipline, Architecture, Quantity Surveying, Project Management, Engineering or related discipline. Along with professional qualification in an associated discipline with membership of a relevant professional body. You will be able to demonstrate an understanding of working in a complex and diverse multi-site environment.

This highly strategic role requires strategic vision, tactical thinking, diplomacy and above all be able to provide leadership to both internal and external stakeholders.
