The Research Operations Office is looking to recruit two Research Contracts Officers (RCO) to provide advice and guidance on contractual matters and to draft and negotiate contracts for research and consultancy.

 

The RCO will be responsible for providing advice and guidance to staff on project applications and contractual issues in line with funder terms and conditions and for drafting and negotiating research and consultancy contracts on behalf of the School. The RCO will also have responsibility for quality assurance, compliance, and developing systems and processes.

 

The Research Operations Office has a focus on the alignment of support services with the School’s aims and objectives. The successful candidate will get the opportunity to support work to shape service delivery within the contracts team, and will be involved in the development and delivery of training to School staff to improve knowledge and skills across stakeholder groups.

 

The RCO will work as part of a team reporting to the Research Contracts Lead who is responsible for supporting the development of staff in the team. The successful applicants must have significant experience of research contracts, ideally in a higher education environment, and preferably hold a legal qualification. The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal, organisational and planning skills. Knowledge of contract law is essential.

 

The post is full-time and permanent. The salary will be on the Professional salary scale Grade 6 in the range £38,533 to £43,759 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service.  Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Director’s Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine
