Department summary

The academic staff of the Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) department have wide-ranging expertise in circuits and systems, communications and signal processing, control and power, intelligent systems and networks, and optical and semiconductor devices.

The Department has a strong commitment to conducting internationally competitive and innovative research. Its primary scientific interest is in fundamental research with numerous applications to the environment, healthcare, information and communications technology, industry and energy.

The post is funded by the ERC Starting Grant BEACON to investigate fundamental theoretical limits of hybrid digital and analog communications and networking.

The successful candidate will conduct research in the areas of information and communication theory under the supervision of Dr. Deniz Gunduz. Previous research experience and a strong track record in these areas, as well as signal processing, statistical learning theory, and/or optimisation theory is required. The position is available immediately for one year, other complementary position may become available.  

Applicants will hold a PhD degree in electrical engineering, computer science, mathematics, or a related field, should have a proven ability to work independently, and excellent written and communication skills. *Candidates who have not yet been officially awarded their PhD will be appointed as Research Assistant within the salary range £31,740 – £33,370 per annum.
