An opportunity for an Instrument Technician (Mass Spectrometry) has arisen in the Faculty of Natural & Mathematical Sciences at King’s College London, one of the world’s top 20 universities. The successful candidate will join the growing Chemistry Department at King’s College London where they will work within the technical services team in the research laboratories assisting in the provision of a complete technical support service to all research groups based in Britannia House, near the Guy’s Campus.
They will also be responsible for the provision and daily management of the mass spectrometry service and will contribute to world-leading research in the chemical sciences by providing an expert, problem-solving resource to researchers involving data collection, interpretation and reporting. They will also assist with the day-to-day operation of the laboratories and instrumentation and will contribute to the training of researchers in the use of mass spectrometry.
Applicants should have first degree in chemistry, biochemistry or related subject and have significant academic or industrial experience directly relevant to the post. They will be a skilled individual who is self-motivated, highly organised and works well as part of a team.
The post holder will be working with a wide range of staff, students and visitors, so communication skills are important. The ability to learn new techniques and use new equipment is essential, and the post holder will be expected to work towards professional registration with the Science Council.
The selection process will include a panel interview.
