The Articles of The University of Law provide that there shall be an Academic Standards Committee (ASC) to safeguard and keep under review the standard of education and of the awards made by the university and that two members shall be external persons of high academic standing in the fields in which the degrees of the university are awarded.

In particular, the ASC advises the university’s Board of Directors on academic matters and has oversight of the work of the Academic Board of the institution.

In accordance with a Strategy approved by the Directors, the university, under the leadership of its Vice Chancellor, Professor Andrea Nollent, is planning significant expansion of its existing law related programmes in the UK and globally and further diversification into adjacent academic and professional areas. Much of that growth will involve collaboration or joint venture with other well regarded institutions at home and overseas.

To fill a current ASC vacancy, the university is looking for a further external member of high academic standing and understanding of equity-funded private education, with experience of education and professional development in one or more of the following areas: accounting and finance, business, management, regulation.

The ASC meets, usually four times a year in London, for an average of two and a half hours in addition to which members need to give time to reading papers and are likely to be consulted between meetings.
