Salary: Contracts Manager (salary: £46,762 to £56,526 per annum) or Contracts Negotiator (salary: £36,926 to £45,547 per annum)

Your new role
You will be at the heart of enabling world-leading academic research by reviewing, drafting, negotiating and gaining approval of a broad spectrum of research-related contracts with blue chip and FTSE 100 companies, start-ups and entrepreneurs, UK/international government departments, academic collaborators, and charities. You will work closely with various teams (including Corporate Partnerships, the central Research Office and Imperial Innovations) to safeguard the university’s charitable position, the academic community’s need to pursue further research and publish results, and ensure value for money and appropriate access to intellectual property rights for our sponsors.
What you’ll need to succeed
You will be an effective and pragmatic negotiator with substantial (in the case of a Contracts Manager) or good (in the case of Contracts Negotiator) working knowledge and direct experience of negotiating contractual issues including intellectual property, confidentiality, publication, liabilities and VAT. If you are applying for the role of Contracts Manager, you will demonstrate a clear understanding of the contractual issues that are relevant to a higher education institution. You will demonstrate excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to articulate complex issues clearly and concisely to a wide range of people of varying levels of knowledge and expertise. You will thrive in a fast-paced environment, working under pressure to prioritise effectively and meet deadlines across multiple projects. You will work well both autonomously and as part of a multifaceted team. You will share our passion for quality service; possess excellent attention to detail, and act with tact and diplomacy. Experience of working in higher education will be an advantage.
