Job offer in Ireland Lecturer Below the Bar in Botany and Plant Science (Plant Ecology) at National University of Ireland, Galway
Applications are invited from motivated and talented individuals for an appointment as a permanent Lecturer in the School of Natural Sciences at NUI Galway. Applications from candidates with an internationally competitive research and teaching background in Plant Ecology are welcome. Candidates should have a strong foundation in basic and/or applied aspects of terrestrial plant ecology with an emphasis on field-based research.
The School, which includes the Disciplines of Biochemistry, Botany & Plant Science, Earth & Ocean Science, Microbiology and Zoology, runs a number of BSc programmes (including Environmental Science, Earth & Ocean Sciences, Marine Science) and taught MSc programmes (including Biodiversity & Land-use Planning; Sustainable Resource Management: Policy & Practice (with the University of Limerick). Members of the School also contribute to the University’s Research Institutes, including the Ryan Institute for Environmental Marine, and Energy Research and the National Centre for Biomedical Engineering Science.
The appointed lecturer will contribute to the undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programmes of the School within the area of plant ecology. The appointee should have good interpersonal skills and be prepared to collaborate with colleagues within the Discipline (Botany and Plant Science), School (e.g. Environmental Science, Earth and Ocean Science, Zoology, Marine Science), University, nationally and internationally.

Salary:
At Lecturer Below the Bar level
€37,602 to €58,360 p.a. (applicable to new entrants effective from January, 2011)
(This appointment will be made on the Lecturer Below the Bar scale in line with current Government pay policy)
(For pre 1995 public sector entrants in Ireland, the D class Salary rates will apply)
