Job offer in Ireland Contract Research Officer – Research Support Officer at The Agriculture and Food Development Authority

Location: Teagasc, Head Office, Oak Park, Carlow

Grade/Salary: Research Officer, with a starting salary of €33,056 per annum. The current salary scale is €33,056 to €64,337.

Starting pay will be at the minimum of the scale per Government Circular E100/8/82.  Exceptional circumstances may apply for candidates with current or previous service in the public sector (including Teagasc).

Post Type: Temporary Grant-in-Aid funded contract post, the indicative duration of which is 6 months, subject to contract.

A panel may be formed from which future similar vacancies may be filled; such a panel will remain active for a maximum period of 12 months.

Basic Function:          

The post holder will have a key position in the Research Directorate, supporting staff and management in all aspects of grant applications, contract negotiation and reporting.  We seek a highly-motivated professional with an understanding of European and/or Irish funding programmes.  The candidate should be capable of building relationships with researchers and other internal stakeholders.

Essential Qualifications

  • Candidates must have an honours Level 8 degree in Science, Agriculture, Food Science, Environmental Science, Engineering or Social Sciences or a related discipline.

Desirable Qualifications

  • A postgraduate degree and/or experience in research support would be a distinct advantage.
