The selected candidate will have extensive knowledge of photovoltaic device functionality and design parameters. Specific experience with III-V materials, device simulation, simulation of nanophotonic structures and device processing (lithography, etching, metal deposition) would also be advantageous.
This post will involve designing and simulating ultra-thin photovoltaic device structures with integrated nanophotonic arrays, developing new process flows for these designs including epitaxial lift-off and bonding, scalable nanophotonic patterning, electrical and optical characterization and data analysis to iteratively improve the device performance.
This program of work will be performed in collaboration with an industrial partner, IQE plc.
The successful candidate would also be expected to communicate research outcomes though publications and presentations, as well as contribute to other activities of the group including training of students.
Candidates should hold (or be about to complete) a PhD in materials science, physics or a related area.
