The Department of Tourism, Sport and Hotel Management is a multi-award winning provider of degrees in the fields of event management, real estate and property development, international tourism and hotel management, and sport management. The Department attracts the nation’s largest student cohort in hotel and tourism related degrees. The Department delivers a Bachelor and a Master of International Tourism and Hospitality Management and teaches a number of majors in the Griffith Business School’s Bachelor of Business and Master of Business. 

The opportunity

An exciting opportunity currently exists for an exceptional candidate with expertise in the discipline of Hospitality or Business Event Management. As Professor of Hospitality or Business Event Management, you will be expected to lead engagement, teaching and research activities in relation to your own specialisation but also in support of the broader research program of the Griffith Institute for Tourism. There is a strong focus on developing one specific area for research and teaching for Griffith University and on helping position the University as a national and international leader in this field.

This is a full time, continuing position based primarily at either the Gold Coast or Nathan campus, however the successful applicant may also be required to work across our other campuses. 

About you

The successful candidate will possess a PhD in a relevant discipline. As Professor, you will be able to articulately outline a strategic vision for your area of expertise at Griffith University. An excellent record of publications will ensure that Griffith continues our outstanding achievements in research. A demonstrated ability to network effectively will ensure that working relationships are improved both internally and with government, industry and community stakeholders.

Salary range

Professor, Level E: $175,772 per annum. Salary packaging including 17% employer superannuation contribution: $205,604 per annum.
