As a Major Discipline Coordinator in Engineering (Architecture) you will provide a strong contribution to the curriculum development, teaching and research within Swinburne’s new Bachelor of Engineering course and Major in Architecture, which commences in 2018. Within a four-year Bachelor of Engineering, students specialize in their second year of study in Architecture.
As Major Discipline Coordinator you will play a critical role in the overall students’ experience, teaching quality, and quality of graduate outcomes. You will represent the course on the best interests of students, staff and the University to ensure the best possible outcomes.

As a Senior Lecturer in Architectural Engineering, you will be an acknowledged as an emerging leader within your field developing a strong reputation for innovation, high quality teaching and research excellence. You will have demonstrated experience as a practising Engineer or Architect and bring strong industry connections and an understanding of industry needs that will contribute to Swinburne University’s objectives as a leading institution for design and engineering education and research. The recipient of the position will be expected to carry out appropriate activities to maintain and develop their scholarly, research and professional expertise in order to contribute to the education of the next generation of architectural engineering practitioners and leaders, and to the advancement of knowledge in a rapidly evolving social, cultural and technological field. Working in an interdisciplinary environment and you will make significant internal and external links with other stakeholders.

The Senior Lecturer position will be an ongoing position within the Department, and the role of Major Discipline Coordinator for Architecture within the Bachelor of Engineering will be for a period of five years, reviewed annually and renewable based upon satisfactory performance.

To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate the following:

  • An earned doctoral qualification in Architecture or associated field.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, and manage multidisciplinary research projects and teams in Architecture.
  • Demonstrated professional practice as an architectural engineer in the Architecture, Engineering, Construction (AEC) sector, strong professional networks and evidence of expertise in design.
