Position Summary

Family Medicine/Sports Medicine Physician- Associate Director of UNM Primary
Care Sports Medicine Fellowship

The Department of Family and Community Medicine seeks a qualified individual who is
interested in joining its faculty. The ideal candidate would share clinical and educational responsibilities in the UNM Health Science
Center and UNM Lobo Athletic Training rooms. Clinical time would be split among continuity primary care, MSK/Sports clinic and the UNM
Athletic Training room. Educational time would include administration and teaching responsibilities as the Associate Fellowship Director for
the UNM Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship. The candidate must have experience and competence in the realm of Musculoskeletal
Ultrasound regarding educating fellows and residents and doing guided injections and diagnostic scans. Education time would also involve
organizing a monthly community sports medicine conference and attending weekly morning and/or evening journal clubs. Additional involvement
in other educational opportunities including live lectures and academic writing with the possibility of curriculum development, fellowship
candidate recruitment along with assessment and clinical competency committee activities. Lastly, this position will be responsible for team
coverage of various University of New Mexico Lobos activities, serving as an assistant team physician for university athletics and will do
volunteer coverage for high school athletics.

Salary:

Salary and rank commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements :

  • Medical Doctor or Doctor of Osteopathy; board
    eligible/certified in Family Medicine by the ABFP or AOA
  • Completion of a Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship with Certificate
    of Added Qualifications in Sports Medicine
  • Eligible for medical licensure in NM
  • Eligible for State of New Mexico Board of
    Pharmacy certification and federal DEA registration
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S.

Preferred
Qualifications
:

  • Three years directly related experience, which may include residency in a directly related medical
    specialty
  • Patient care experience in an HMO, office or community clinic
  • Experience teaching students and residents
    including Ultrasound guided injections and diagnostic scans
  • Experience with Musculoskeletal Ultrasound
