Faculty Job in Academic & University Instructional Support Assistant – Thoroughbred Equine Racing

Morrisville State College is seeking a 12 month Instructional Support Assistant for the Thoroughbred Equine Racing Management Program. This
is a tenure track position. The successful candidate will support faculty in an effort to successfully provide educational information to
students. Most course materials will be delivered in a laboratory environment.

It will be necessary for the successful
candidate to obtain and maintain licensure from the New York Racing and Wagering Board. Candidates with the most effective and comprehensive
skill set from the following list will receive highest consideration.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills;
  • Highly developed organizational skills;
  • Competence and industry experience as an exercise rider;
  • Experience breaking
    Thoroughbred horses;
  • Ability to monitor equine health and soundness on a daily basis;
  • Working knowledge of protocols
    involved with the racing industry;
  • Ability to safely drive and maneuver a one ton pick-up towing a 24 foot trailer.

Requirements:

A.S. or A.A.S. degree in Animal Science, Equine Science, or closely related field. Demonstrated
skills in handling and managing race horses. The successful candidate will be required to obtain (prior to tenure) a CDL which allows the
holder to operate a pick-up and trailer of 26,000 pounds GVW.

Preferred Qualifications:
B.S., B.T., or
M.S. degree in Animal Science, Equine Science, or closely related field. Experience and licensure as an exercise rider. Experience as a
lecturer in a laboratory setting.
