Faculty Job in Academic & University Information Technology Teaching Assistant (San Francisco, CA)

Title: Information Technology Teaching Assistant-San Francisco, CA

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt/
Regular Full-Time

Academic Support

  • Tutor students in Information Technology and study skills as
  • Provide administrative support for instructors and Academic Director as needed, including assisting with assignment grading
    and grade entry into our online system
  • Support additional special projects, as assigned, such as program improvement, focused
    teaching and learning, curriculum integration work, guest speaker program, and civic projects
  • Coordinate student participation in
    activities and events including service-learning projects, field trips, corporate gatherings, and Year Up events such as graduation
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Understanding of the Opportunity Divide and its
  • Commitment to diversity and inclusion
  • Some work experience preferred, strong interest in technology and education
  • Strong team orientation – desire to collaborate as a member of the Academic team
  • Moderate degree of technical
    literacy required; strong technical literacy a plus
  • An interest in implementing progressive teaching methodologies and in creating
    a hands-on, interactive learning environment
  • Excellent communication skills, mature interpersonal style, ability to interact with a
    diverse range of people, and strong teamwork skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills and the ability to work under
  • A willingness to take initiative and the ability to be flexible while handling increased responsibilities
  • Strong
    Microsoft Office skills required
  • Proficiency with various Learning Management Systems (i.e. Schoology), and virtual and online
    video tools for teaching and learning (i.e. Second Life, Adobe Connect) preferred
  • A passion for working with urban young adults, an
    unshakable belief in their potential and a strong commitment to the mission of Year Up
