The college invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position in Journalism at the Assistant Professor level, to begin Sept. 1,
2018.

The preferred candidate will have a broad background in journalism (preferably print and online, although television and
radio experience will also be considered), and will offer introductory courses and advanced news production courses in their areas of
expertise. The successful candidate should be eager to learn new skills, especially in digital media, and will have an opportunity to help
develop and teach a range of journalism courses in an evolving convergent media curriculum that emphasizes exceptional writing and delivery
skills.

Responsibilities will include serving as an adviser or co-adviser to the weekly campus newspaper and its online
edition. Preference will be given to candidates with knowledge of digital media and the ability to supervise student journalists and the
business and advertising sales staff.

Requirements:

  • Earned doctorate in media, journalism or a
    closely related field (ABD with firm completion date also considered).
  • Professional journalism experience strongly preferred.
  • Prior successful experience in teaching, preferably in a liberal arts college.
  • Proficiency in InDesign, Photoshop, or related
    design software strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of audio/visual production and other software preferred.
