Open executive Job in Academic & University Vice Provost Liberal Arts & Sciences

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:

The work involves formulation of policies and procedures,
budget development, administration, supervision and coordination of all programs within the assigned academic divisions. This is a
responsible administrative position, which works under the direct supervision of the Provost and Executive Vice President. The incumbent is
responsible for the supervision and direction of curriculum evaluation, evaluation of instruction, selection of faculty and staff, student
advisement and outcomes assessment. Responsibilities include the development of education partnerships with public, private, community and
professional organizations and professional organizations. Develops joint admissions and articulation agreements with colleges and secondary
schools. Develops and maintains credit and non-credit bearing courses and programs, which will attract new student populations to Erie
Community College. General or direct supervision is exercised over the Professor/Department Heads and Department Chairs, Deans of Liberal
Arts and Sciences, Director of Distance Learning, Librarians, Center for Professional Development and other administrators as assigned.
Performs related duties as assigned by the Provost and Executive Vice President.

TYPICAL WORK
ACTIVITIES:

  • Formulates policies and procedures for the assigned academic divisions;
  • Chairs
    academic committees and planning meetings;
  • Provides leadership and supervision to the assigned departments within the Liberal Arts
    and Sciences division and is responsible in conjunction with the Deans, Professors/Department Heads and Department Chairs, Librarians, and
    Center for Professional Development for curriculum content, master schedule oversight, accreditation, evaluation of instruction, selection
    of faculty and staff, student achievement, and outcomes assessment;
  • Provides leadership and supervision to the assigned departments
    within the Liberal Arts and Sciences division and is responsible in conjunction with the Deans, Professors/Department Heads and Department
    Chairs, Librarians, and Center for Professional Development for curriculum content, master schedule oversight, accreditation, evaluation of
    instruction, selection of faculty and staff, student achievement, and outcomes assessment;
  • Provides leadership and supervision in
    conjunction with the Deans of Liberal Arts and Sciences and the Department Heads and Department Chairs for all the activities within the
    Liberal Arts and Sciences division pertaining to course offerings, development, and scheduling;
  • Prepares budgets for the assigned
    academic divisions and submits to the Provost and Executive Vice President for review and approval;
  • Monitors and manages budgets
    for the Liberal Arts and Sciences division;
  • Provides leadership in the preparation and submission of reports and surveys for state,
    federal, and accrediting agencies;
  • Provides leadership in the development and implementation of alternative instructional options
    for students and faculty including online/distance learning;
  • Maintains student academic standards, professional program
    accreditation ensuring the integrity of instructional programs.
  • Provides direction and supervision in the development of new
    courses and curricula and revision of existing courses;
  • Submits recommendations for new courses, curricula and revision of existing
    courses to the Provost and Executive Vice President for approval;
  • Provides direction and supervision in the development of new
    courses and the revision of curricula designed to serve the students and four-year transfer institutions’ needs;
  • Reviews, approves,
    and monitors on-campus and off-campus teaching assignments of the faculty in assigned divisions;
  • Provides supervision of
    instructional space during normal instruction hours;
  • Provides leadership and direction for the development and coordination of
    General Education and Developmental Education programs;
  • Provides information to the Office of Enrollment Management to develop
    marketing and enrollment strategies for student recruitment;
  • Oversees formation, coordination and functioning of curriculum
    advisory committees;
  • Supervises all partnerships with private and public sector employers;
  • Provides leadership in the
    development of new academic programs, associate degree programs, and certificates;
  • Provides leadership in divisional grant
    development, budget preparation and implementation;
  • Works closely with the Provost and Executive Vice President in fulfilling
    collaborative academic duties and responsibilities as assigned;
  • Performs related duties as assigned by the Provost and Executive
    Vice President;

Full Performance Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Personal Characteristics:

Thorough knowledge of the educational and training needs of students and developmental/general educational methods and theory; good
knowledge of philosophy of community colleges, good knowledge of curriculum development; skill in educational coordination and the
management ability to motivate and direct the work of others; ability to get along well with others; sound professional judgment; initiative
and resourcefulness; must be physically capable of performing the essential functions of the positions with or without reasonable
accommodation.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduation from a regionally accredited registered four- (4-)
year college or university with a Doctorate, five (5) years of college teaching experience, and three (3) years of responsible
administrative or supervisory experience in higher education.

Or

Graduation from a regionally accredited registered four- (4-)
year college or university with a Master’s degree in education or a related discipline, seven (7) years of college teaching experience, and
five (5) years of responsible administrative or supervisory experience in higher education.
