The Vice Provost
for eLearning serves as a member of the academic affairs leadership team under the supervision of the Senior Vice President for Academic
Affairs and Provost. The Vice Provost for eLearning is responsible for overall leadership in achieving the goals of the University of
Cincinnati’s Cincinnati Online: to serve the people of the state and beyond through expanded eLearning education opportunities; to grow
enrollment nationally and internationally by developing a leadership position in eLearning; to enhance resources and revenue to the
university through programs and partnerships; and to leverage increased collaboration among the university’s campuses in the development,
administration, and marketing of eLearning degree and certificate programs and courses. To accomplish these ends, the Vice Provost is
responsible for the development and implementation of plans and the assessment of outcomes. The Vice Provost reports to the Provost and is
expected to closely and strategically collaborate with the deans to support and coordinate with the academic units, the faculty and the
students, as courses and degree programs are offered in multiple sites. The Vice Provost will be a member of the Office of the Provost
senior management team and will supervise individuals who carry instructional design responsibility for eLearning at the University. The
Vice Provost will work in partnership with the CIO. In addition, the Vice Provost will supervise a team of individuals responsible for:
budget, marketing, web design and maintenance for Cincinnati Online .
The success of this ambitious and highly visible eLearning portfolio will require a leader of considerable skill with outstanding
relationship-building qualities. Demonstrated success within a shared governance environment is essential, as is experience working in
collaboration across an academically diverse organization. Candidates with direct experience in successful, productive eLearning programs at
the graduate and undergraduate level will be significantly advantaged. The ideal candidate will possess a sophisticated understanding of the
tenets of marketing and demonstrated success creating and executing business, strategic, and operating plans, including an understanding of
the national and global nature of the eLearning marketplace and strategies for being competitive in this market. An entrepreneurial spirit
is critical – a person dedicated to building an institutional enterprise and fostering an institutionally-receptive collaborative ecosystem
for this enterprise. An earned terminal degree in the candidate’s academic or professional discipline is desirable but not required.
Essential Functions (in order of importance):
- Collaborates with multiple constituencies to develop
and implement plans to advance eLearning consistent with the mission, vision and strategic priorities of the University.

- Ensures alignment of
integrated technologies needed to deliver eLearning, face-to-face, and blended instruction. These technologies must interface seamlessly
with enterprise systems and fully leverage the technology resources provided by the University.
- Works with constituencies
throughout the University to ensure high-quality services to support student success in eLearning programs.
- Collaborates with
Communications, Enrollment Management, and Deans to develop and implement integrated marketing and enrollment strategies that identify and
market appropriately eLearning and new branch campus programs.
- Works with the deans of the schools and colleges to maximize
revenues and efficiencies generated by the University’s program, certificate and course offerings.
- Maintains awareness of best
practices, emerging technologies and new potentials in educational technology appropriate to consider for adoption at the University of
- Provides guidance and direction regarding compliance with accreditation standards and industry regulations related to
quality assurance for eLearning programs.
- Participates in relevant University policy and planning committees and meetings.
- Builds relationships with key community and corporate constituencies in each regional campus area.

Student Affairs and Marketing to foster Cincinnati Online.
- Excellent project management skills and proven supervisory and staff
development skills to effectively manage teams, inspire quality performance, and enhance morale.
- Strong analytic, problem-solving,
written and oral communication and presentation skills; flexibility, responsiveness, and impeccable follow-through.

- Strong commitment to academic
quality, with the ability to work with the provost’s team to secure and maintain the University’s accreditation to deliver online degree
- Positive attitude, proven ability to work successfully with diverse populations and demonstrated commitment to promote

- A Terminal Degree
appropriate to the applicant’s academic field of expertise is desirable, but not required.
- Successful university teaching
experience and a record of research, scholarly and creative activity suitable for a tenured professor faculty appointment in one of the
disciplines of the University is preferred, but not required.
- Ability to provide leadership and to work collaboratively
university-wide to support the mission of the university, and especially Cincinnati Online.
- At least five years of successful
administrative experience at the college, university or relevant professional organization.
- Ability to successfully provide
leadership and function effectively as a collaborative member of the Provost’s senior leadership team.
- Ability to work
collaboratively with faculty in shared governance.
