Overview

Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School of Pulblic and International Affairs invites applicants for the Special Assistant to the Dean
position. Reporting directly to the Dean of the Woodrow Wilson School, the Special Assistant will handle a wide range of administrative
matters of school-wide importance on behalf of the Dean and will serve as liaison and/or represent the Dean in selected internal and
external interactions with faculty, staff, students, alumni, University administrators, and professional association and community leaders.

Responsibilities

The incumbent will anticipate, interpret, prioritize, coordinate and disseminate information flow in and out of the Dean’s Office consistent
with the Dean’s goals and standards. This includes making judgments regarding priority, substantial proofreading and editing of content, and
taking appropriate action. The Special Assistant will create or review special reports, presentations, proposals, agendas and communiqu s,
including the development or evaluation of content to ensure alignment with the vision and mission of the School and reflective of the high
standards of the office. S/he will oversee all operations of the Office of the Dean, including management of the office
staff, departmental budget, and supervision of all scheduling.

The incumbent will develop and maintain a tracking system for the coordination of projects and will create and/or ensure adherence to school
and University policies and procedures. S/he will evaluate, make recommendations for improvements, and/or implement enhancements to systems
and office functionality.

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree;
  • At least five (5) years of executive level office
    experience;
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills, the ability to deal properly with confidential matters and material, and the
    ability to represent the Dean within a variety of activities;
  • Demonstrated ability to identify goals, plan and execute complex
    projects independently and resourcefully. Also, the capacity to manage the expectations of a diverse population, as well as, managing the
    expectations of the Dean;
  • Success in working in an environment with competing priorities and uncertain circumstances;
  • Time
    management skills, attention to detail, and an aptitude for multitasking;
  • Demonstrated ability to use independent judgment and
    discretion with minimal supervision;
  • Proactive work style and ‘can do’ attitude in addressing challenging situations;
  • Good judgment, tact, diplomacy, discretion, and ability to maintain confidences are essential. Ability to work in a fast-paced and
    dynamic environment. Ability to be creative and flexible in response to complex work situations;
  • Strong organizational,
    interpersonal, and problem solving skills. Ability to develop, implement, and interpret policies and procedures and effectively communicate
    sensitive information verbally and in writing to a diverse population;
  • Familiarity with and appreciation for academic culture;
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • An advanced degree is
    preferred.
