About Continuing Education + Professional Development at ACAD

The School of Continuing
Education + Professional Development is a revenue generating professional education enterprise designed to serve learners of all ages and
backgrounds in the region. The School has three key goals: to generate revenue, to engage the broader community, and to draw students into
our full-time day programming.

Continuing Education + Professional Development programs will be in alignment with overall
teaching and learning activities at ACAD, and it is expected that the Executive Director will establish positive partnerships with faculty
and staff, business, industry, government, educational, and cultural sector communities to enhance the College and the portfolio’s brand and
reputation. They will increase partner involvement and sponsorship, and meet the needs of students and potential employers. Managing a small
team, the Executive Director will possess an entrepreneurial spirit, and is a results-based leader with superb management and business
development skills.

The Opportunity

The new Executive
Director will take responsibility for strategy and business development, program administration, annual business plans and budget
development, relationship building, human resource management, marketing, and market research. They will also oversee the development of
market driven programming; championing new programs through the approval process and supervising the development, management, promotion, and
quality control of programs to meet targets. Continuing Education + Professional Development programs will drive innovation for the College
and reflect a full spectrum of programs aimed at lifelong learners. This includes non-credit courses/programs/workshops/seminars; credit and
professional certificates; diplomas, and on-line/blended program delivery.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Graduate degree in a relevant field with current knowledge of research in the field of education preferred
  • A minimum of
    five years of progressively senior administration experience in a related field within an entrepreneurial education service provision
    environment
  • A strong record of initiating and stewarding external and internal relationships with potential clients and stakeholder
    groups
  • A proven record in revenue generation, preferably with educational program development with diverse constituencies from
    public, private and non-profit sectors
  • Knowledge of, and familiarity with, strategic partnerships and new business opportunities
    and planning in a post-secondary setting. Experience with online and digital educational services is an asset.
  • Proven experience in
    business planning, marketing and financial administration
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively
    with a wide range of internal and external communities and stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach and mentor staff
  • Ability to manage conflicting multiple and conflicting priorities and implement goal setting strategies
  • Solid organizational
    and time-management skills
  • Must be highly competent in the use of office software such as Word and Excel.
