The incoming dean will report directly to the provost and vice president for academic affairs, who is
expected to be named in the spring of 2019. S/he will serve as the chief academic and administrative officer of the new School, building on
the momentum the University has recently established and seizing the unique opportunity to shape the direction of the School, enhancing the
existing traditional strengths of Saint Joseph’s while leveraging new opportunities to advance the future-oriented goals of the

The University’s first new school in more than 30 years, the School of Health Studies and Education will build upon
dozens of established undergraduate, graduate, doctoral, and certificate programs in two rapidly changing and growing sectors: health
studies and education. Saint Joseph’s University is uniquely equipped to integrate strategically health and education programs that prepare
students for careers as teachers, special education professionals, school administrators, specialists in autism and behavioral studies,
health providers, and administrators for continuing education in nursing, physical therapy, radiological services, educational leadership,
and more.

Minimum Requirements:

  • The ideal candidate will have a distinguished record of administrative
    leadership experience, demonstrated entrepreneurial drive, and success working collaboratively with a broad range of constituencies and
    external partners to implement strategic initiatives and new programming.
  • Additionally, s/he must demonstrate a commitment to the
    mission and values of SJU, supporting its student-centered approach and desire to foster an inclusive community
    dedicated to critical thinking, ethical decision-making, and civic and social engagement.
