University seeks an outstanding individual to become the next Dean of the School of Engineering. The Dean is the chief academic and
administrative officer for the School of Engineering and reports directly to the Provost of the University. The anticipated start date is
July 1, 2018.

Mercer University School of Engineering is a private engineering school located in Macon, GA. The school, founded
in 1985, offers an ABET-accredited BSE degree with specialties in biomedical, electrical, environmental, civil, computer, industrial, and
mechanical engineering. B.S. degrees in industrial management and technical communication are also offered, as well as graduate MSE and ME
degrees and a minor in Engineering for Development. Total enrollment is ~750 students with 37 full-time faculty members. The primary mission
of the school is to prepare students to be practicing engineers who will contribute to a global society. Our highly collegial faculties are
focused on engaging students in undergraduate research or service projects that solve local and international problems such as clean water,
sanitation, food security, low-cost prosthetics, and other environmental and humanitarian concerns.

The successful candidate will possess, as
a minimum, the following qualifications:

  • A commitment to excellence in teaching and scholarship
  • A commitment to recruiting
    and retaining students; to recruiting, developing, and retaining faculty and staff; and to developing signature academic programs within the
    School of Engineering
  • Academic leadership experience in ABET accreditation and in development of a growing program
  • Successful experience in program development along with an effective administrative leadership style, with strong strategic planning,
    budgeting, and resource allocation
  • A demonstrated desire and ability to work with community, industry, government, and professional
    leaders in the continued development of collaborative relations and external support
  • Strong academic qualifications commensurate
    with the rank of professor in an engineering discipline including an earned doctorate from an accredited university/college
  • An
    understanding and appreciation of the service mission of the University, which is rooted in our heritage
