through an overall focus on service, advising and consulting. The department supports university instructional, research and administrative
requirements, and is responsible for all centrally managed computing, networking and telecommunications facilities, as well as
university-wide software implementation such as the coming Banner 9 upgrade. ITS is dedicated to a constructive, team-oriented environment,

advising, providing solutions, and delivering service excellence in alignment with the University’s mission and goals.

Reporting directly to the Vice-President (Finance and Administration), the role of the Chief Information Officer (CIO) is to align the
information systems vision with the strategic focus of Dalhousie University by integrating the University’s business processes with
appropriate technologies, in accordance with privacy and other legal and regulatory requirements. The CIO is responsible for all aspects of
developing and implementing systems, upholding cybersecurity standards and, in partnership with other senior leaders, supervises and
supports process improvement initiatives within the organization. In addition to providing strategic council to the University’s leadership
team and to leaders across the University, the CIO engages in a Canadian network of CIOs and interfaces with national entities such as the
major federal agencies, CFI, Compute Canada and Canarie. Internally, the CIO oversees the staff and operations of multiple units within ITS,
including Client Services and Infrastructure, Enterprise Applications Services, the Project and Portfolio Management Office, and the
Business Operations Unit.

As the ideal candidate, you bring significant, senior IT leadership experience combined with an
in-depth understanding of the operations of a research-intensive university, and you hold a university degree, ideally at the Masters level,
in information technology, science, engineering, business administration, or a related field. Your IT background gives you the foundation
needed to understand complex systems but it is your broad business acumen, team leadership skills, and exceptional interpersonal and
communication abilities that have enabled your success throughout your career. You have a record of strategic organizational leadership, are
skilful in articulating a clear vision for the information management systems of a large, complex organization with multiple stakeholders,
and are able to implement strategy to move the organization forward. Moreover, your talent for leading and managing change helps you to
foster the skills, attitudes and behaviours needed to bring these new strategies and initiatives to life, therefore meeting Dalhousie’s
