The Department of UCIT E- Learning is currently seeking an Assistant Vice President- Enterprise Academic Technologies. Reporting to the
VP of Technology/Chief Information Officer (CIO), the selected candidate will direct a cross-functional team of information technology and
academic technology professionals. The Assistant Vice President of Enterprise Academic Technologies at the University of Cincinnati provides
collaborative leadership for the development and delivery of the enterprise academic technologies roadmap and framework that is strategic,
standardized, sustainable, supportable, scalable, and secure. The Assistant Vice President provides leadership in working with the VP
Technology/CIO and will lead team members to manage the enterprise academic technology operations of the organization.

The Assistant
Vice President of Enterprise Academic Technologies shall work collaboratively with the Vice Provost for eLearning to ensure the enterprise
academic technologies ecosystem appropriately supports the academic priorities and needs of the university. The individual will closely
coordinate with the Vice Provost for eLearning on a comprehensive set of technology, infrastructure, delivery, and the next generation of
digital learning environments. In addition to management of existing enterprise instructional technologies and programs, the Assistant Vice
President will deliver campus-wide a state-of-the-art, enterprise-wide academic technology environment that supports quality online, hybrid,
and blended courses and the next generation of digital academic environments. Efforts will also ensure the quality and accessibility of the
enterprise academic technologies environment through the application of best practices and compliance standards such as Quality Matters;
Section 508 of the American Disabilities Act (ADA); and Technology, Education, and Copyright Harmonization (TEACH) Act.

The Assistant
Vice President provides leadership, vision, and direction; develops metrics to assess the effectiveness of the enterprise academic
technologies ecosystem; promotes a culture of continuous quality improvement; independently anticipates technological challenges and
opportunities by developing, implementing and assessing a comprehensive strategic operating plan; build consensus and develop collegial,
collaborative working relationships with a broad range of constituencies.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Serve on the Vice President’s management team, participating in decisions affecting the units under direct supervision as well as
    the organization unit as a whole; counsels the VP/CIO on the University’s technological challenges and opportunities; serve on various
    department, division, and university committees; represent UCIT at appropriate university bodies, committees, councils, etc., as requested;
    plan, direct, provide leadership and execute special projects as assigned.
  • Ensures the Technology Department is in compliance with
    federal statutes and regulations, state and local laws, UC policies and procedures, and relevant contractual obligations; develops backup
    and continuity plans that anticipate emergencies and system problems in order to avoid failures of critical systems.
  • Plans,
    prepares, and administers the department budget and exercises proper financial controls
  • Works closely with IT staff and the VP/CIO
    to drive the divisions’ mission, vision, and objectives; anticipates technological needs in a way that fulfills educational and business
    requirements; reviews, refines, and establishes processes and protocols to build a strong technological infrastructure and provide
    exceptional technical assistance; ensures that direct technical support is provided in a professional and timely manner to students, faculty
    and staff; creates a customer service-oriented culture; recommends process improvement, efficiencies and system to the VP/CIO.
  • Communicate with Deans, Chairs, and Directors within the university to identify service needs, potential service solutions, and other
    management services; ensure that related activities are carried out in accordance with generally accepted principles.
  • Provide
    direct supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, approve time off,
    etc.).

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree with ten (10) years or advanced degree with
eight (8) years’ experience related leadership experience and include three (3) or more years supervision experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Leadership experience inclusive of (5) years overseeing enterprise
    academic technologies in higher education.
  • Proven track record in the effective development, implementation, management, and
    evaluation of annual and capital budgets to achieve departmental and University objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify grant
    funding opportunities to support research to practice in enterprise academic technology designed to improve learning experiences and
    outcomes as well as external funding partnerships and opportunities to advance the next generation of digital learning environments.
  • Expertise in negotiating strategic sponsor partnerships and business agreements that enhance the enterprise academic technologies
    ecosystem.
  • Experience in oversight for the implementation, support, maintenance, and delivery of enterprise academic technologies
    including the Blackboard Learning Management System (LMS) and related technologies. Familiarity with leading the research, identification,
    and implementation of emerging enterprise academic technologies to enhance student learning environments, course delivery, and student
    engagement/outcomes.
  • Knowledge of latest trends in higher education as they relate to enterprise academic technologies. Strong
    aptitude and ability to leverage information technology and applications.
  • Demonstrated success in cultivating strategic
    partnerships and collaborative culture both internally and externally. Excellent customer service, interpersonal, project management,
    problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Effective consultative, presentation, and collaboration skills. Sensitivity to
    respond appropriately to the needs of diverse communities.
