Job Summary/Responsibilities:

  • Shares dual
    supervision responsibilities with the dean of the constituent directors of development (DODs) in the five colleges and athletics. Consults
    with deans regarding fundraising priorities. Builds, motivates and manages talented, aggressive and team-oriented staff. Directs DODs in the
    formulation of complete major gift development program plans (PMEs) including gift goals, prospects identified, and proposals presented and
    gift agreements. Works with DODs to develop strategies for major gift prospects. Conducts monthly and quarterly (with deans) review of goals
    and performance. Develops training programs for development staff and other University personnel. Supervises the Director of Advancement
    Services and the related department.
  • Prepares and develops special management reports related to fundraising and special campaigns
    as appropriate.
  • Develops and maintains productive relationships with major donors and key volunteers. Carries a portfolio of major
    gift prospects.

The Assistant Vice President for Development will also be responsible for a 9 figure capital campaign and
serve as Associate Campaign Director. Duties include working with campaign counsel, planning and implementing Quiet Phase, kick off Public
Phase and post-campaign Stewardship Phase.

During declared campus emergencies, this position may be required to perform specific job
related duties at a designated off campus location or place of residence.

Required Qualifications:

A
Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university in a directly related area of specialization and seven years of
experience directly related to the job functions; or a Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university in a
directly related area of specialization and nine years of experience directly related to the job functions.

Preferred
Qualifications:

Appropriate experience is defined as direct fund raising, fund raising management or volunteer management
experience. Candidates must have a proven track record of major gift fund raising success. Management experience of development officers
required with a centralized/decentralized organization model preferred. Expected to raise support in addition to management
responsibilities. Candidates should be experienced in methods of solicitation, and basic knowledge of PG Calc or Crecendo packages and word
processing applications. Experience with fund raising is preferred, i.e. Raiser’s Edge. Must have demonstrated oral and written
communication skills. Should have a high degree of initiative, good judgement, tact and be able to work independently. Able to travel,
sometimes on short notice. Position holder must demonstrate exceptional initiative, good judgement and tact. CFRE
Certification is preferred. (Certified Fund Raising Executive)
