Open executive Job in Academic & University Assistant Vice Chancellor, Facilities Operations and Services
The University of Colorado Boulder welcomes applicants for an Assistant Vice Chancellor of
Facilities Operations and Services. The Assistant Vice Chancellor of Facilities Operations and Services provides strategic leadership for
the development and maintenance of campus facilities and the delivery of logistical services. This role oversees facilities sustainability,
physical plant operations, facilities maintenance, custodial services, grounds maintenance, utility generation and distribution, central
receiving, warehousing and distribution services. This position is directly responsible for approximately 4.7 million square feet of highly
complex building space comprised of research laboratories, classrooms and offices.

What your key responsibilities will be:
- Develop and implement strategic, business, financial and operational plans for the Facilities
Operations and Services organization to ensure proper coordination and cost effectiveness in support of the campus mission, goals and

facilities operations and services.
- Work cooperatively and collaboratively with the campus community to ensure that facilities
operations and services are consistently responsive to the needs of the campus and ensures the continuity of the university’s mission of
education and research.
Leadership and Management
- Provides leadership and management that emphasizes teamwork
and collaborative working relationships to a highly diverse staff. Develops an organizational culture where employees feel empowered and

- Works closely with the Office of Information Technology, PD&C, and the VCIS Business Office on development
of technology solutions that will enhance security, improve facilities operations, sustainability, and resiliency.
- Develops and
implements short- and long-range facility goals, including deferred and controlled maintenance programs.
- Oversees long-term
planning, production and distribution of campus utilities.
- Develops plans to improve energy efficiency, integration of renewable
energy, and energy resiliency.
- Works cooperatively with academia, the city of Boulder, utility provider, industry, national labs,
and state and federal agencies to leverage the existing micro-grid to create innovative solutions related to energy distribution, storage,
and control systems.

What we require:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering,
Facilities Management, Architecture, Business Administration, Public Administration or directly related field.
- Eight years of
increasingly responsible facilities-related management experience in a large and complex environment including at least five years of senior
leadership in an organization with multiple departments and functions.
- Strong budget and financial management skills.
- Success in process improvement and use of work management systems.

- Ability to

What we’d like you to have:
- Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in managing facilities at a public higher education research institution of comparable
size to the Boulder campus.
- Advanced degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, Business Administration, Public Administration
or directly related field.
- Certified Facilities Manager (CFM), Certified Educational Facilities Professional (CEFP), Professional
Engineer (PE) or closely related certification.
Preferred qualifications may be used to further reduce the pool of
applicants to those who are most highly qualified.
