Serves as the institution’s key resource in the oversight of compliance efforts consistent with Title IX, the Violence Against Women Act
(VAWA) and the Campus Sexual Violence Elimination Act (Campus SaVE), including assisting in the training and education process for the
University community; monitors and ensures ongoing campus compliance with Title IX and other sex discrimination, sexual harassment, dating
and domestic violence, stalking, and other sexual violence regulations; performs all duties in full support of the University’s brand,
understanding that the positive and effective execution of these duties are instrumental to the University of South Alabama’s mission – the
education of students; coordinates training, education, communication and administration of complaint procedures for faculty, staff,
students and third parties; serves as the primary internal reporting resource for both formal and informal Title IX complaints; advocates to
identify and deliver comprehensive educational and training initiatives in the promotion of gender equity as well as educate the University
community regarding their legal rights, options and resources; works closely with lead Title IX team member and other advocates to develop
and disseminate educational materials tailored to faculty, staff and students; oversees the Title IX process of allegations of sexual
misconduct, sexual violence, and gender-based discrimination as specified in federal laws, state laws, and University policies;
independently receives, evaluates, and explores Title IX violation allegations to determine appropriate avenues for formal intervention;
works with Title IX team who oversees grievance procedures to coordinate response(s) to all complaints as well as the resolution and appeal
processes; identifies, monitors and addresses any systemic patterns of discrimination, assessing effects on the campus climate; recruits,
trains and provides leadership to faculty and staff who serve as institutional advocates, deputy Title IX coordinators, investigators and
complaint assessment panel members as necessary and/or appropriate; provides guidance to and works with Title IX and Violence Education and
Prevention Specialist to provide Title IX training to students, faculty and staff; ensures Title IX Investigators and Deputy Coordinators
are adequately trained; works with other departments regarding Title IX related training and educational/awareness programs; serves as chair
on the University’s Title IX Committee; identifies and addresses any systematic problems related to complaints and works with other
departments to ensure equity compliance; responds to complaints filed with the Office of Civil Rights; prepares annual statistical reports
on the number, nature and disposition of Title IX complaints; works closely with the University Compliance Officer in Clery Act and other
associated Title IX compliance and administrative reporting requirements; identifies areas of concern that may arise and addresses these
concerns in a timely and appropriate manner; maintains current knowledge of federal and state laws regulating Title IX; attends webinars,
meetings, and conferences on the local, state, and national level to maintain current knowledge of Title IX issues and legislation; regular
and prompt attendance; ability to work schedule as defined and additional hours as required; related duties as required.
