Job Description Summary

The Office of Enrollment and the Student Experience is a mission-driven organization
providing a cohesive experience throughout all phases of the student lifecycle, from the admissions and enrollment process through
graduation and beyond, by supporting a connected, comprehensive and student-centered approach to the student experience. Reporting to the
Senior Vice Provost for Enrollment and the Student Experience (ESE), the ESE includes
the offices of undergraduate admissions, graduate enrollment, career services, student financial assistance, student success, student
experience and student services, systems and analytics. The ESE is committed to a student-first mentality,
utilizing a data-driven approach to continuous assessment and improvement across the organization.

The Office of Student Systems,
Services and Analytics (SSSA) is a diverse team of functional areas including Colonial Student Services, ESE IT, and ESE Data Analysis, Reporting and Evaluation with responsibility for administering
and supporting a wide range of services related to students’ successful progression from enrollment through graduation. SSSA uses a student-focused approach to its responsibility for ensuring the integrity and continuity of all ESE data systems, structures and services and serving a critical role in the integration and continuing development of
the ESE student systems, services and analytics functions. SSSA supports the
university’s mission as it relates to the management of enrollment and student experience data, systems and services. The SSSA team leads the successful planning of resources, processes, platforms and technologies, data and analyses that
support enrollment and the student experience including the administration, collection, review and analysis of student data to inform
decision-making. SSSA provides guidance and support on various policy matters and the development of strategies,
collaborations and efficiencies that enhance overall enrollment and the student experience at the university.

Reporting to the
Associate Vice Provost for Student Systems Services and Analytics, the IT Director leads a diverse team of business analysts, technicians
and system administrators, who ensure the integrity and continuity of all related data and systems. As a member of the SSSA leadership team, the position develops strategies and efficiencies to enhance the student experience, operational
capacity and capabilities.

This position will be responsible for the following:

  • Oversight and strategic
    direction for the ESE IT Portfolio, setting priorities for long-term technology and strategy.
  • Acting as
    the Associate Vice Provosts representative with Division of IT and represents the division on all appropriate university committees.
  • Assessment and analysis of ESE systems and processes, identifying opportunities for implementation of
    strategic efficiencies, innovation, and collaboration.
  • Development and implementation of all cross-unit projects, setting
    priorities and ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Leading a staff of department-embedded analysts that manage day-to-day
    systems and processes required for each office, while creating a cohesive team that forwards the over-all organizational priorities.
  • Assisting in multi­year planning, analysis, and business process management efforts, identifying technology solutions that align to
    business strategy and goals.
  • Bringing a strategic focus to business process management concepts and principles including the
    continuous improvement of core business processes.
  • Working regularly with stakeholders across the university, participating in
    committees and working-groups, related to technology, and systems, to weave the Student
  • Experience into the GW culture, creating
    opportunities for collaboration and innovation.
  • Manages project and systems budgets, making recommendations to the Associate Vice
    Provost for prioritization of funding and opportunities for savings.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 8 years of
relevant professional experience, or, a Master’s degree or higher in a relevant area of study plus 6 years of relevant professional
experience. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent
combination of education, training and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Project Management experience,
    PMP preferred
  • Progressive leadership experience
  • IT portfolio management, developing and
    implementing technological systems
  • Experience within higher education enrollment and student life
  • Experience with
    SalesForce, business process improvement and innovation
  • Demonstrated commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity

Typical Hiring Range
$87,400 – $142,000 How is pay for new employees determined at GW?

Hours Per Week: 40+

Work Schedule: Monday
through Thursday, 9:00am to 5:30pm, with occasional nights and weekends. Schedule may vary.
