Position Statement:
Founded in 2005, Georgia Gwinnett College (GGC) is the 31st member of the University System of

Description:
The role of the AV Tech II is to provide leadership to the Classroom Technology Support team in
assisting faculty, staff and students in carrying out the academic, business and co curricular goals of the college through the
innovative use of technology. This position reports to the Assistant Director for Classroom Support and will work closely with other members
of Educational Technology.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • First and second tier support for daily classroom AV operation with
    primary focus on maintaining up time and rapid response to outages.
  • Responds promptly to calls, walk in and helpdesk requests.
  • AV equipment evaluation, maintenance, and installation.
  • Requires the use of project management tools including Help Desk
    and scheduling software.
  • The AV Tech II position follows the programs set forth by the Assistant Director of CTS in
    providing training and guidance for faculty, staff and students.
  • Excellent communication and time management skills are required.
    Including the ability to follow detailed verbal and written instructions.
  • Other tasks as assigned by supervisor
  • Maintains and upgrading skills and professional development by attending training and industry events. 

Salary: Hourly rate commensurate with education and experience with excellent benefits.

Minimum and Preferred Qualifications:
Required: Two years of full time experience showing
progressive involvement in AV projects of increasing scope and complexity. High School Graduate or GED required.

Preferred: College Degree or Tech School Diploma or military training in related field. Experience desired in
integrating and/or programming AV systems. Education and/or Industry Certifications a plus. Intermediate experience troubleshooting and
maintaining AV Technology including Video Projectors, Crestron, control systems, video capture/editing, IP video conferencing, sound systems
and a working knowledge of PC’s and Mac’s.

Preferred Skills:

1.Electronics and AV systems troubleshooting ability

2.Understand Digital/Analog video signal flow

3.Understand audio signal flow

4.Understand control logic

5.Basic network knowledge ( TCP/IP/Ethernet)

6.Ability to use general small hand tools like screwdrivers, cutters, pliers, cable crimpers

7.Basic knowledge of Low Voltage wiring for signal and control

8.Basic installation skills for equipment and cables

9.Basic Understanding of HDBaseT

10.Ability to use electronic test equipment like

a.Multimeter( Volts /Ohms/Amps

b.Network tester

c.Cable tracer ( Fox & Hound)

d.Audio Frequency generator

e.Video Pattern Generator

f.Oscilloscope

g.Audio Analyzer or RTA

h.Luminance Meter

11.Basic understanding of room control systems like Crestron , AMX, or Extron

a.Load and save code to devices

b.Update firmware

c.Test and operate installed systems

Position may require local travel. Ability to lift and carry files and materials. Ability to move from one office to another office on

Work Hours:
Position requires non-standard work hours. This position will support evening and weekend classes and
events as needed.
