It is an exciting time for the School, which is continuing with plans for development and expansion under our Head of School, Professor Elwen Evans QC.

Based within the Academic Office and reporting to the Programme Co-ordinator, the post holder will provide administrative support for postgraduate research programmes within the School, and provide support to the Director of PGRs and PGR students

The Academic Office is responsible for efficiently administering and organising the School degree schemes, which also includes undergraduate and postgraduate taught programmes, exams and assessment and employability.

Main purpose of the Post

To provide advice and guidance to staff on standard University regulations and processes, maintain the postgraduate administrative calendar and assist with module maintenance, monitoring and creation of new modules and programme pathways. They will liaise with Programme Directors to assist with the allocation of Academic Mentors and assist with all administration connected to degree schemes. The post holder will assist with the production of student and module handbooks for each taught degree programme using templates and assist with the production of the College timetables in conjunction with relevant colleagues. The will also assist with the set up and allocation of seminars producing and checking relevant reports and assist in other areas of the Academic Office during their peak workload periods, particularly working closely with the Undergraduate Programme administrator.

Main Duties

The post holder will deal with queries from academics or students on general issues and advise on University Regulations as appropriate to the role, they will support the development and dissemination of ‘best practices’ within the College. They will contribute to a culture of change and continuous service improvement within the College and assist with audits and accreditation procedures relevant to the role. The post holder will service College Committees and other meetings as required, provide support at Open Days, Graduation and other events as and when required.  They will work closely with the other teams in the College to share knowledge, information, best practice, providing support as and when required. They will fully engage with the University’s Performance Enabling and Welsh language policies and promote equality and diversity in working practices and to maintain positive working relationships.

Perform the job role and all activities in accordance with safety, health and sustainability policies and management systems, in order to reduce risks and impacts arising from the work activity. To follow relevant policies and procedures as part of your day-to-day activities to ensure working practices are compliant with the University’s Risk Management Policy.
