Middlesex University Dubai hosts Student Innovation Awards, part of the 2017 BCS ICT Conference:
Dubai, UAE: Continuing to provide its students with opportunities to strengthen their knowledge and skills, Middlesex University Dubai, in partnership with the Chartered Institute for IT (BCS) – Middle East section, hosted the Student Innovation Awards – BCS ICT Conference 2017 at its Knowledge Park campus on 12 October 2017.
The event was held as part of the lead-up to the 2017 BCS ICT Conference to be held in Abu Dhabi on 29 October 2017. The objective of this event was to provide students a unique platform where they use technology to showcase their creativity and enhance their interest in the areas of Mobility, Security, Communication, Collaboration, Environment and Wellness for the Future Cities. The conference also provided an opportunity for Middlesex University Dubai faculty and students, along with members of Dubai’s ICT community to network and discuss trends and activities occurring in the region’s dynamic ICT sector.
In the spirit of the Year of Giving, this year’s programme included a National Level Student Competition, with the first two rounds of the competition completed during May – September, 2017. MS Manal Al Ansari, Innovation Manager at Emirates NBD Group IT was the distinguished key note speaker of the day. On the day of the final round, finalists presented their projects to an esteemed panel of judges, including Dr. Mohamed Fareq Malik, Mr. Amol Kadam, Ms. Manal Al Ansari, Mr. Abdul Husein and Mr. Abdul Saleem. At the end of the day’s proceedings, Osama Khan and Muhammad Rasly from University of Bolton, RAK won first prize; Muhammad Azeem and Talah Shaikh from Heriot-Watt University received second prize and Otobong Friday and Judhi Prasetyo from Middlesex University of Dubai received third prize.

Our congratulations to the winners who will be receiving their grand cash prizes at Conference Awards Ceremony presented by our patron HE Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan UAE Minister for Culture & knowledge Development on 29 Oct 2017 at Anantara Eastern Mangroves Hotel Abu Dhabi,” said Eng. Adel Alkaff Al Hashmi, Chairman of the BCS – ME Section, who also presided over the judging panel of the competition.
