Job offer available in Scotland Teaching Fellow/Lecturer – Sport Development/Management at University of the West of Scotland

Campus: Hamilton Campus (with travel to other locations as required)

Full-time: 35 Hours per week

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Teaching Fellow/Lecturer in Sport Development and/or Management to join the academic team within the School of Science and Sport, at the Hamilton Campus.

The School of Science & Sport is a multidisciplinary school, with a diverse range of programmes delivered at our Ayr, Hamilton, Paisley, and London campuses and a combined total of circa 1600 students. Both teaching and research are at the heart of all of the School’s activities. With NSS teaching scores and a successful REF2014 we are looking to build and diversify our portfolio in programmes and research.

We welcome applications from dynamic and motivated individuals with appropriately focused teaching and research interests in sport development /sport/fitness management or a closely related field. Academic and professional preparation consistent with an ability to contribute at a high level to the undergraduate curriculum is also required.

The successful candidate will either be seeking their first teaching post (Teaching Fellow AC2) or an accomplished teacher (Lecturer AC3), versed in contemporary learning methods, and also be able to contribute to curricular renovations to include development and delivery of blended and distance learning at undergraduate and potentially postgraduate level.

As a Lecturer you will help to expand our enterprise and research activities, and will exhibit an entrepreneurial and collaborative mindset to enhance the impact of your work. The successful candidate will contribute to the Sport, Education and Society research group within the Institute for Clinical Exercise & Health Science, conducting and publishing relevant research in both national and international contexts. Our Sport, Education and Society research group advances the development and delivery of sport from participation to performance, through a range of key research themes such as social issues in sport, and physical activity promotion.

You will join a progressive team of individuals in delivery and development of the undergraduate degree in Sport Development within the School. The programme achieved an NSS score of 93% in 2015-16 and has 100% of students in work/further study 6 months after graduating. With a PhD in Sport Development or other closely aligned discipline, you will help the team develop our postgraduate provision internationally, delivering excellence in the field.
