Job offer available in Scotland Senior Research Technician at The University of Edinburgh

Fixed term for 24 months

Applications are sought for the post of Senior Research Technician to contribute & support the team in maintenance of human pluripotent stem cells (h-iPSC) and generating glial progenitor cells and glial cells. This will be used in a high-throughput drug screening project in a new pharm startup company (PhenoTherapeutics). The successful candidate will play a major role in providing a constant pipeline of oligodendrocytes using established in-house protocols. The technician will assist in generating both high quality h-iPSC and Oligodendrocytes and performing rigorous quality controls (karyotyping/mycoplasma test) etc. The role will be split between the Chancellors building and QMRI, Little France campus, University of Edinburgh.

The post holder must have a M.Sc. in Biology or Biomedical sciences. Essential requirements include significant experience in cell culture and molecular biology techniques, as well as computer software relevant to laboratory research. Knowledge in the field of human stem cells and high throughput screening would be an advantage. A demonstrated ability to communicate well, work within a team and maintain good laboratory records are also essential. In addition, a background in industry/pharma will be desirable.

This post is fixed term for 2 years and is available for an immediate start.
