Job offer available in Scotland Science Writer and Editor at The University of Edinburgh
We are looking for an enthusiastic, creative, confident and engaging science writer to provide high-level proactive services to support implementation of the science and research communications strategy of the Easter Bush Campus, predominately through the activities of The Roslin Institute. You will be shaping its reputation by keeping key local, regional and international stakeholders (research councils, other funders, industry partners and the general public) informed of our activities.
The Science Writer and Editor will interact with the researchers of the Roslin Institute and wider Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies to disseminate our science to a wide range of audiences.
You will have a strong background in science writing and/or science journalism, and be able to communicate in an engaging style. You will be able to creatively “package” a story with proven experience in production of material for on-line, digital communication tools and printed media. You will be expected to plan and progress a diverse set of tasks using initiative and judgement. You will have excellent analytical skills, with the ability to evaluate the impact of communications and generate ideas/solutions for communication challenges.
Meticulous attention to detail and the ability to prioritise whilst occasionally working under pressure is essential.
This is a full time (35 hours), fixed term post until June 2020.
