University of Aberdeen – School of medicine, medical sciences and nutrition

The University wishes to appoint a Professor of Medicine in relation to Dentistry. This is also part of succession planning for the Director of Dentistry role and therefore requires a high quality, experienced candidate to provide academic leadership for the next phase of development of our Dental School. Certain key aspects of this development have been identified including establishing and directing an Institute for Head and Neck Sciences and leading the development of Postgraduate programmes. Leadership for these will be expected from the new appointment.

Applications are invited from candidates qualified in Medicine and Dentistry to consultant level, those with specialist qualifications in either Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery or Oral Medicine are particularly welcome. The successful candidate will join the senior team that provides professional and educational leadership for the Dental School and inspirational development of its teaching and research. 

The contract for the post will be held with the University of Aberdeen and an honorary contract will be sought with NHS Grampian. All applicants must be fully registered with the General Dental Council or with the General Medical Council as appropriate. This post will be based within the School of Medicine, Medical Sciences and Nutrition.

Salary will be at the appropriate point on the salary scale for Staff Honorary Consultant Contracts salary scale (£77,529 – £104,525 per annum) with placement according to qualifications and experience.
