GCU London was established as a 4th School of GCU in 2015 and as such is an integral part of the wider University for the Common Good. It comprises the well-established British School of Fashion and the emerging British School of Management. Together they form GCU London – a ‘Hub for Responsible Enterprise’. This forms the identity of GCU London. The Hub is underpinned by 3 interlocking themes: interdisciplinary innovation; robust research underpinnings; and a strong collaborative industry focus.
GCU London is seeking to appoint an energetic and inventive individual with a bold and forward thinking vision for leading and promoting research and public engagement across its 2 keys areas of work in fashion and business. This Professorial role will contribute to the strategic academic development of GCU London by providing leadership for the development and delivery of research primarily in the area of fashion and associated industries but also to enhance the research capability of the whole GCU London portfolio. The role requires someone who understands cross-disciplinary work on sustainability in different segments of the marketplace from fashion to health.
We are seeking a self-motivated, dynamic, creative and experienced research leader to join our senior team as the Professor in Marketing and Sustainability Development to support all programmes in the portfolio. It is likely that the candidate will have a track record in retailing (including consumption) or branding or communication. In addition candidates with experience and expertise in the digital /online domain would be of particular relevance to the requirements of the role.
The person should have a proven track record of obtaining funding, either through research funding bodies or KTPs or other commercial endeavours. The role is expected to work closely with those that have industry expertise so that our understanding of the processes involved in revenue generation is enhanced.
You must be able to conceive and implement a number of key enabling research, income generation and outreach strategies to support the delivery of the University’s Strategy. You will lead research development but must also be able to immerse yourself and deliver on the tactics and the details to deliver University Strategic Indicators and targets.
Working collaboratively across campuses, you will stimulate synergies between the Schools around research focus, impact, return on investment, outreach and promote the GCU brand.
