Dr David Lewis
Initial 3 year fixed term contract (with possibility of up to 2 year extension)
The Cancer Research UK Beatson Institute in Glasgow is one of Europe’s leading cancer research centres. It supports cutting-edge research into the molecular mechanisms of cancer development. The Institute provides an outstanding research environment, underpinned by state-of-the-art core services and advanced technologies with special emphasis on imaging, metabolomics and in vivo models of cancer.
The mission of the Lewis laboratory is to use state-of the-art PET/MRI imaging techniques, genomics and metabolomics to understand metabolic reprogramming in cancer and to translate these findings into innovative clinical trials. You will work as a part of a multi-disciplinary team that will support all areas of this project.
You will have a PhD in a field relevant to cancer biology and/or metabolism, a track record of peer-reviewed publications and great enthusiasm for experimental design and practice. In addition to on-going projects in the lab, you will be encouraged to develop your own ideas and interests within the general area of metabolic cancer imaging. Training will be provided, but you will be expected to be proactive and ambitious.
