You will join the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Unit Tackling Infections to Benefit Africa (TIBA) at the University of Edinburgh (tiba-partnership.org).
Thisi is a multi-disciplinary partnership covering medicine and public health, basic biomedical sciences, social science and international development led by the University of Edinburgh and nine African research institutions; Botswana, Ghana, Kenya, Rwanda, South Africa, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zimbabwe.
TIBA an NIHR funded research consortium is an Africa-led, wide-ranging, multi-disciplinary research programme that explores and draws lessons from the ways that different African health systems tackle infectious diseases. TIBA will help empower African scientists to effectively and sustainably tackle neglected tropical diseases (such as schistosomiasis, malaria, trypanosomiasis and lymphatic filariasis), and improve preparedness for epidemics (such as Ebola).
TIBA partners have expertise in infection biology, clinical medicine, immunology and vaccinology, molecular biology and drug development, genomics and bioinformatics, diagnostics, surveillance and epidemiology, synthetic biology, health systems, innovation systems, industry development, international development and governance.
This full time (35 hours), fixed term post is available for 18 months from June 2019 or as soon as possible.
