Job offer available in Scotland Postdoctoral Research Fellow (part-time) at University of Dundee
We are recruiting for a highly qualified candidate for a 50% part-time (20 hours per week) one-year Postdoctoral Fellow position in science education research.
You will assist in grant funded work on science education, local communities and knowledge translation and mobilization for the purposes of curriculum development. Drawing upon research in scientific practice and funds of knowledge theories, the overarching goals of the research are to explore how teachers might support scientific practices using the home, the curriculum and scientists’ work as guides.
You can expect to experience a productive research opportunity with a solid research team and school partners.
Your priorities will include:
- Organizing and facilitating meetings with partners
- Conducting literature reviews in science education and assisting with mixed method design studies
- Project management and field work
- Data collection and analysis activities
- Maintaining high quality relationships with partner organizations
The outcome of this engagement will be publishing in various forms, positive engagement with a broader university team and experience in teacher education research and community based work.
Who we’re looking for:
- A completed Ph.D. in the area of science education
- Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methods
- Demonstrated ability to conduct independent educational research
- Strong written and oral communication skills with multiple stakeholder groups
- Orientation towards detail, thoroughness and meeting deadlines
K-12 science teaching and science teacher education experience, and work with school partners and wider community organisations would be an asset.
Outstanding professionalism, ability to work under the direction of a PI, excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills as well as good time management, are essential to this position.
