Job offer available in Scotland Makerspace Manager at The University of Edinburgh
The University of Edinburgh is delighted to be advertising for two posts to develop the uCreate Studio, the University’s Makerspace, into a University wide making space focusing on digital making activities. This is a student focussed space delivering new and emerging technologies to students and staff for learning and discovery.
As we transition to delivering a service across the University campus this will provide imaginative Makers with opportunities to deliver workshops and one to one sessions not just within the uCreate Studio at the Main Library but in venues across the campus through mobile workshops and pop up consultation sessions.
We are looking to recruit for an experienced Manager to build up an innovative making service across the university delivering fun, interesting, and exciting making opportunities helping students to develop their digital making skills. The successful candidate will also get the chance to work with the wider library teams to look at ways in which the Collections and digital scholarship techniques can be used for making. This role will be supported by a part-time Coordinator and a team of interns.
The Makerspace Manager will lead the team in the uCreate Studio and across the campus providing direction and leadership for the Makerspace. You will lead a team of 1+ staff, 10+ student staff / interns, develop and deliver programmes of making, and monitor progress. We’re looking for someone with great management skills, the ability to inspire staff and students, creating an effective team. Knowledge of making and management along with a track record of producing quality results are a must to ensure that your team delivers efficient and cost-effective services. While the role will be based in the heart of beautiful Edinburgh, it is likely to require occasional national and international travel.
