Job offer available in Scotland John Lorne Campbell Research Assistant at University of Edinburgh

University of Edinburgh – Celtic and Scottish Studies

College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences

The School of Literatures, Languages and Cultures seeks a highly motivated Research Assistant to catalogue the Linguistic Survey of Scotland (Gaelic) (LSS(G)) and produce a comprehensive, searchable database of all LSS(G) assets.

The Linguistic Survey contains documents and audio recordings of key importance for Gaelic lexicography and linguistics. This is a proposal to catalogue it and appraise it for lexicographical purposes, using funds from the John Lorne Campbell legacy, via Faclair na Gàidhlig (The Gaelic Historical Dictionary). This work will enable lexicographers and other researchers to locate items of interest in the Survey and correlate them with one another. It will also greatly enhance the Survey’s accessibility and long-term research potential.

This is a full-time, 35 hours, position on a 7 month fixed-term contract from 1st August 2017 until 28th February 2018.

Information queries can be sent via email to Dr Will Lamb, Celtic and Scottish Studies, at llc@ed.ac.uk.

We anticipate interviews will be held on 27th June 2017. You will be notified by email whether you have been shortlisted for interview or not.

The closing date is 5pm (GMT) on 8th June 2017.
