As a result of a revised strategy to expand and diversify its geospatial service offering EDINA, at the University of Edinburgh, has an exciting opportunity for an experienced geospatial professional to join us and help lead on developing and expanding the well-established set of Digimap services to new sectors across the UK and internationally.
Building on our strong sector presence and reputation as the market leader, EDINA is looking to leverage its expertise in geospatial data, to reach new customers in new sectors, as well as increasing services to more education sector customers. As well as developing new services relating to static datasets, EDINA is growing expertise into satellite and real time data and related service provision across private and public sectors.
The Geospatial Services Operations Manager will be responsible for delivering and growing a robust geospatial services platform for a wide-ranging customer base from education through to private, public and not for profit sectors. The successful candidate will lead the technical planning and delivery of new service development programmes and service enhancement projects.
The successful candidate will work closely with the new Geospatial Services Manager to ensure the technical development of a progressive and financially viable platform and services, horizon scanning and anticipating technology changes to guide and lead the development of an innovative geospatial services platform. The role reports into the Head of Operations and comes with line management responsibilities.
You must have experience of delivering large-scale web-based solutions and familiar with concepts and use of GIS technology. Practical experience of either software development, database technologies or of delivering geodata to web-based applications.
This is a full-time (35 hours per week) open-ended post
Salary: £40,792 – £48,677
