Summary of Job Purpose and Principal Duties

The University is now seeking to recruit a Dean of the School of Science and Engineering.
The School of Science and Engineering has built a long and successful international reputation for excellent teaching and topical research, particularly in addressing global challenges in energy, the environment, healthcare, technology, and infrastructure. Our unique combination of disciplines provides students and the School with research and education opportunities across many fields of study.
Reporting to the Vice-Principal (Provost), the Dean will be tasked with developing and delivering an inspiring vision for the School in alignment with the University strategy and values and working with the Vice-Principals, other Deans of School and senior managers to develop a high-performance community. The appointee will be a member of the University Management Group and the Deans’ Group.
The successful candidate will bring the necessary academic credentials in research and teaching in a relevant discipline, as well as leadership experience within higher education and the ability to engage with a range of internal and external stakeholders. Interpersonal, listening and communication skills, with high levels of integrity and authenticity, will be critical.
