The College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine, part of the University of Edinburgh, a global top-tier University located in one of the world`s finest cities, is keen to attract early career researchers for appointment as prestigious Chancellor’s Fellows. Applications are welcomed in relation to respiratory and global health fields and may encompass population health sciences research and / or medical informatics. We especially encourage these in the following areas:
- Applied informatics for example data science, machine learning
- Population health sciences, including health systems, epidemiology, statistics, self-management, community awareness, policy transferability, clinical management, and diagnosis.
These 5-year Fellowships are intended to support candidates at the start of their independent academic careers. Subject to satisfactory review at the end of year 4, Fellows will then move to a standard University academic open-ended contract. It is anticipated that most appointees will be successful in obtaining an open ended contract.
The Usher Institute of Population Health Sciences and Informatics is one of five Research Institutes in the College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine. The Usher Institute is a high-energy, interdisciplinary environment dedicated to improving the health of individuals and populations locally and globally through research, innovation, knowledge exchange and education.
The Usher Institute includes the Centre for Population Health Sciences, Centre for Medical Informatics and Centre for Global Health Research; as well as our hosted centres, one of which is the NIHR Global Health Research Unit, ‘RESPIRE’ within which these two Fellowships will be based.
