Applications are invited from innovative researchers of international standing for the Chair of Antimicrobial Resistance in the School of Biological Sciences. We are seeking an individual with an established record of discovery within the fields of Evolutionary, Systems and/or Cell Biology, but with a clear interdisciplinary focus and an interest in the fundamental processes that lead to antimicrobial resistance. Candidates should have the vision and skills required to promote the development of novel research programmes, and to form effective collaborative partnerships with colleagues from a wide range of scientific disciplines. You should be an enthusiastic and engaging teacher, with the ability to enhance students’ experience of studying at Edinburgh. The Chair of Antimicrobial Resistance will have the opportunity to play a key role in shaping the University’s long-term biological strategy, building on Edinburgh’s existing excellence in systems/synthetic biology, evolutionary biology, cell biology/epigenetics, immunology and infection, and stem cell/regenerative medicine. The appointee will be affiliated with the Institute of Evolutionary Biology and the Institute of Cell Biology as well as the Center for Synthetic and Systems Biology (SynthSys).
