High quality research information is essential to support the University’s excellence in research. Within RSO, we need to ensure quality, presentation and the useful interpretation of data within the context of a complex and rapidly changing environment. The Research Support Office is looking for an experienced research professional to provide insights into our research application/award data taking responsibility for data interpretation, presentation and analysis to provide useful and insightful information which RSO and Colleges can use to inform strategy, respond to changes or advise resourcing.
The individual must be able to understand the wider research environment and the drivers of research strategy and investment for RSO and UoE generally. They must be able to understand the research context in order to fully interrogate the data and proactively provide insights based on the current environment.
The successful candidate will have experience of working in the HEI research sector, have a proven track record of project planning and delivery. In order to fully understand data on funding or application patterns, to identify worrying gaps in the pipeline or to give an informative analysis on current approaches with a particular funder, the candidate must have sound knowledge of the funding landscape. They will have knowledge of data and reporting requirements in Higher Education and will have an understanding of data visualisation techniques and the implications of how the presentation of data can impact the understanding of it. The candidate must also have the ability to ensure consistency across datasets and an understanding of why this is important. The candidate will be expected to work in parallel with College Team Managers and Senior Academics and must be able to present their findings at events and in writing. They will be expected to work with a high degree of autonomy.
