The research assistant will contribute to the development, operation and support of research project, The Port-au-Prince-Rio Connection: ‘Collateral Damage’ by UN Troops in Haiti and Brazilian Troops in Rio. This project is a development of a research council funded project It Stays With You: Use of Force by UN Peacekeepers in Haiti, see the website www.itstayswithyou.com.
They will have responsibility for researching information and developing contacts in Brazil relevant to the research needs of the project; interpreting through Portuguese and English at interviews and meetings and providing transcripts; providing logistical support for the project.
They will be resident in Brazil and will be required to travel to various locations in Brazil, including some favelas, to work with the project team during their research trips.
(Part time 17.5hrs per week 0.5 FTE and fixed-term for 10 months. Anticipated start date 2 September 2019. Some flexibility with regard to hours will be required since there will be more work to do during the project team’s research visits to Brazil and less at other times.)
