University Canada West (UCW) was founded in 2004 by Dr. David Strong, an accomplished academic and distinguished scientist who served as President of the University of Victoria for over a decade. The vision was to create an independent, accessible university with a practical focus and an emphasis on excellent teaching. University Canada West prides itself on offering rigorous programs with a distinct business orientation. 

The President & Vice Chancellor is accountable to the Board of Governance for providing overall leadership and direction to UCW. The President & Vice Chancellor will support the Board and its mandate and will be responsible for ensuring that the University operates within the policy and strategy framework established by the Board. The President & Vice Chancellor will provide advice and counsel to the Board in all matters impacting UCW and will provide effective strategic leadership to support the University and its faculty, staff, and students.

The successful candidate has successful senior leadership and administrative experience gained as a Dean, Vice President or President in a well-respected post-secondary institution. They will possess a PhD or equivalent credential combined with a successful record as an educator and scholar. They bring strong strategic thinking skills with the ability to work with others to set priorities and establish strategies to move a complex organization forward in establishing and realizing its vision and commitments.
